HOW TO SET AN EYELET OR RIVET
Setting eyelets and rivets is easy once you know how to do it, and have all the necessary tools. Here are a few simple instructions that will assist you in this process.
Tools required to set an eyelet:
To set eyelets or rivets you will need the following tools:
hammer (required only if eyelet setter or punch is not hammer free)
A hole punch of equivalent size to that of your eyelet.
An eyelet setter that corresponds to the size of your eyelet or rivet.
A self healing cutting mat, an eyelet mat or a self-healing cutting surface.
A platelet (optional)

Setting your eyelets or Rivets
First, make a hole of corresponding size to your eyelet using your hole punch.
Secondly, insert the eyelet or rivet through the hole made so the decorative side is on the front of your project.
Turn your project over
Optional step: Position the front of the eyelet within a platelet so that the eyelet comfortably fits into the indented shape.
Optional step: Place a washer, smooth side up, over the rear of eyelet or rivet.
Place the eyelet setting tool on the back of the eyelet.
If the tool requires the use of a hammer, tap the end of the tool lightly with a hammer until the end curls out. A few short taps will be sufficient.
Alternatively, tools like the spring let require you to pull the knob at the end of the tool and releasing it several times until the eyelet is set.
